I just got back from seeing John Legend. I have never in my life felt compelled to write something as soon as I got home after a performance, but the second that I left the gig, it was the first thing on my mind.
Earlier today I walked into the Concert Hall as a fan of John Legend. Not a superfan. Not a crazy obsessed, knows every word kind of person; just someone who appreciated his talent and liked the several singles that he was familiar with.
I left the Concert Hall as one of those crazed super fans.
Because tonight made me feel everything that's great about life and love. A sense of spirituality, happiness, and, well, yeah, love. All that shit that I always go on about in #SpreadTheLove, that was embodied in John's performance tonight. Everyone in the room was smiling, loving. There were arms being put around lovers for the first time, and kisses shared between long time lovers. John sang about the one thing we need in this life more than anything, and he sang about it with such passion, that I've left feeling invigorated. That thing is love.
I'm not a hippy. I'm sure some of you are reading this post thinking what on Earth is this dude on about. And that's fine. Anyone can have their opinion, I'm never gonna stop anyone for that. However, some people just don't appreciate how important love is. It's the only language that is mutually understood around the world, and one of the most uplifting parts of society. Do it more.
There's a lot of shit going off in this world. We can help in many ways. One of those ways that is particularly easy is simply by being nice to each other, and showing love to everyone, especially those that need it.
